Context and vision

Sahel on Sahel: Collaborative Visual Anthropology is a research, training and audiovisual-production project focused on social and communication processes in Sahelian societies.

The project strengthens the capacities of partner universities and local communities through collaborative visual-anthropology learning, film production, digital-archive preservation and the dissemination of audiovisual narratives.

Its major areas of work are documentary film production, digital archives and audiovisual memory, training, and intercultural dialogue and peace processes.

Each production brings together researchers, students and communities. Images are returned, discussed and preserved under clear rules for consent, credit and dissemination.
